Two weeks to write

I have been awarded a two week residency in October at Cove Park.  Each year the Argyll & Bute residencies are awarded to 4 artists to spend time working on their chosen project but in the context of a ‘cross art form programme’.  This year there will be two writers, a visual artist and a filmmaker.

Cove is a small village on the Clyde estuary so it’s familiar territory but far enough to avoid the temptation of popping back home!   I guess you could call it a retreat.

I plan to reconnect to the novel I began some ten years ago (can it be?), to create an overall structure, and to write at least one new chapter.  I have written aboput 35,000 words and plundered it already for material for the play which is about to be published.  To be honest, I have no idea whether I’m capable of sustaining an entire novel but this opportunity will give me the chance to square up to it.
